‘Sometimes I am fourteen’ is the title of Eliza-Sophie Sekrève’s debut photo book. It’s a long-term project that she started at the end of 2020. The work revolves around her little brother Lawrence, a creative, cheerful, but withdrawn fourteen-year-old boy. Lawrence and Eliza-Sophie understand each other and speak the same language, with words and without words. Because they share their lives and their childhood. Because they are both artists. Because there is a love between them, that is all around. The trust and the close bond they share, retains its strength when she holds her camera between the two. This allows her to capture him up close and in his most vulnerable moments.

Through Lawrence's journey into young adulthood, she revisits her own childhood memories. Perhaps you’ll see your younger self in the work as well, since we all have been fourteen sometimes.
